At Yakka Sport, we believe that what happens off the field matters just as much as what happens on it.
That’s why we’re proud to announce our partnership with the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation,
a leading organisation dedicated to funding life-saving research and raising awareness about melanoma in Australia.
Together, we’re launching a national awareness initiative to protect athletes, coaches, and outdoor workers
from one of Australia’s most serious health risks: skin cancer.
Why this partnership matters
Australia has one of the highest rates of melanoma in the world. For those working in sport, spending hours
under the sun is part of the job. But with that comes risk.
From grassroots coaches to elite athletes, sun exposure is constant. Yet awareness and protection habits are
still not where they need to be.
- Long training sessions under high UV conditions
- Weekend competitions with minimal shade
- Limited access to sun protection education
This partnership is about changing that.
Our mission: awareness + action
Through this collaboration, Yakka Sport and the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation will work together
to educate, activate, and protect the sport community across Australia.
What we’re doing:
- Launching awareness campaigns across Yakka Sport platforms
- Sharing real-time UV and sun safety education
- Promoting best practices for outdoor training and events
- Encouraging clubs and organisations to adopt sun-safe policies

This initiative aligns with the global World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28.
A day dedicated to promoting safe and healthy working environments worldwide.
At Yakka Sport, we’re extending this message to the sporting world, because coaches, referees,
and staff are workers too.
