About this role

We’re growing, fast. We are on the hunt for coaches to join our existing setup, and we’ll pay for your qualifications too. We are about performance, community, and purpose. It’s not just picking a starting XI or running drills, it’s creating an environment where players feel seen, challenged, and genuinely excited to show up each week. On the football side, the coach is responsible for designing and delivering structured, engaging sessions that balance technical development, tactical awareness, and fitness. Matchdays require clear communication, adaptability, and the ability to read the game without overcomplicating it. The squad is diverse in ability, so the role demands creativity in session planning and a focus on progression rather than perfection. Equally important is the cultural leadership. Melbourne Rovers is an LGBTQIA+ club, and the coach plays a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and respectful space. That means setting standards, managing personalities, and fostering a team-first mentality where everyone contributes to the vibe as much as the results. Emotional intelligence matters just as much as football knowledge. We’re also committed to developing our coaches, not just our players. The club will cover the cost of formal coaching qualifications and support ongoing learning. Through our relationships with Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City FC, and Football Victoria, there are opportunities to connect, learn, and grow within the wider football ecosystem. The role also involves collaboration with the committee and leadership group to align on club values, player development pathways, and long-term growth. Communication extends beyond the pitch, keeping players informed, engaged, and motivated throughout the season. Ultimately, this is a role for someone who understands that success isn’t measured purely by the table. It’s measured in player retention, team spirit, and those moments where someone who almost didn’t come to training ends up loving it. You’re shaping a team, but you’re also shaping an experience people want to be part of.
