We’re incredibly excited to announce that Yakka Sport is officially partnering with the Sydney Super League (SSL) for the 2026 season and this year, we’re taking it to the next level by integrating all volunteer, referee and field-management roles directly through the Yakka Sport app.
From clubs registering interest, to students applying for shifts, to referees confirming schedules, the Yakka Sport app will be the central hub for making SSL 2026 run more smoothly than ever.
What Is the Sydney Super League?
- The Sydney Super League is run by Legends Soccer, based in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
- The competition is 6-a-side football (5 outfield players + 1 goalkeeper), with rolling substitutes allowed.
- Matches are scheduled on Saturdays, typically between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm, depending on age group.
- For more info visit their website: https://www.legendssoccer.com.au/super-league-2025
Who Plays: Age Groups, Teams & Levels
- SSL caters to junior players from approximately U7 through U13 / U18 age groups, depending on division.
- It is designed for advanced and intermediate level players, ideal for academies and clubs that want competitive small-sided football while still emphasising development.
- In past seasons, a variety of clubs/academies have participated, examples include “Legends”, , “Kickeroos”, “Easts FC”, “Pagewood”, “Waverley Old Boys”, “Sydney City”, “Academy 11′, “Top Squad”, plus other academy-based teams.
Structure: Divisions & Format
- SSL is organised into multiple divisions to ensure balanced competition, including Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum, and possibly more depending on number of registered teams.
- Match format: 6-a-side, 18-minute halves (with 3-minute halftime) for many divisions.
- Unlimited rolling substitutes are permitted.
- After group-stage or league matches, teams may progress to knockout finals depending on division rules (quarter-, semi- and grand-finals), with draws resolved by penalty shoot-outs if required.
This structure ensures clubs of different sizes and ability levels, from developing academies to competitive youth programs, can find the right level of competition for their players.
